B.T. Baking

B.T. Baking (a.k.a. Better Together Baking) is truly a great love story and perfect for our February Featured Producer.

Todd Kelly owner of B.T. Baking in suburban Philadelphia is passionate about his brownies. Using only premium organic ingredients, he supports local farmers, purchasing all of his dairy and egg products locally from small family owned farmers in nearby Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. In addition, he buys Fair Trade Chocolate, which ensures small farmers in foreign countries receive a fair price for their product. Todd's goal is to leave you in a speechless state of bliss!

Todd's passion for baking was born shortly after graduating from college, when he began working as a financial analyst. He soon realized his days would be buried in spreadsheets and numbers, with no outlet for his creative energy. Inspired by a program on the Food Network, Todd tried baking as a way to scratch his creative itch. He spent many weekends perfecting old recipes and creating new ones. Come Monday mornings, much to his coworker's delight, he would bring the results of a weekends worth of baking.

The feedback was more than he ever could have expected. Word spread at work and soon, people from every department and floor would come by his desk hoping to get a taste of whatever he had brought in that week. He noticed the brownies, in particular created the most buzz. The drive to bake a better brownie was born.

In 2007, Todd decided to turn his passion for baking into a career. With the support and encouragement of Todd's wife, Kestra, he quit his job and the couple moved to Philadelphia, with a mission and a passion and his company, Better Together was born.

Todd says Kestra is truly is the driving force behind Better Together, and for that matter, himself. Kestra always said that, individually, they are great, but they are truly better together. In fact, the song Better Together, by Jack Johnson, was the song they first danced to as husband and wife on their wedding day.

When Todd began to brainstorm business names, Kes, without hesitation, told him, "You need to call it Better Together." He thought that was perfect, because at the end of the day the two of them are the business and they truly are better together.
